Community Garden
The Community Garden Program at Taylor Park was established in early 2012 by a group of local gardeners who wanted to share their love of gardening with the community surrounding the park. These gardeners, known as Mobile Urban Growers, along with representatives from the Taylor Park After School Tutorial Program, local churches, and community members organize the garden.
Children in the After School Tutorial Program are engaged through a series of gardening lessons that was founded on the Parable of the Sower of Seed from Matthew 13: 1-9, 18-23. The intent of the program is for the garden to serve as a foundation for teaching not only gardening skills but also lessons for successful living. Master Gardeners volunteered their time and expertise in gardening and Feeding the Gulf Coast also supports the program.
